What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® is a neuromodulator that’s injected to smooth out wrinkles. It’s a form of botulinum toxin type A, but it’s injected in very small amounts that don’t affect the rest of your body.
The expression lines in the face deepen over the years, and BOTOX® can smooth them out again. It’s ideal for three main areas:
- The forehead
- Between the eyebrows
- Around the eyes (crow’s feet)
BOTOX® helps you recapture a more youthful look, and it’s very natural looking. Nobody will know that you had BOTOX® — but they might tell you how great you look. BOTOX® injections take effect within about 1-2 weeks.
What is Dysport®?
Dysport®, like BOTOX®, is a botulinum toxin type A neuromodulator that’s used for wrinkle treatment. As with BOTOX®, Dysport® is ideal for treatment in the following areas:
- Forehead lines
- Between the brows
- Crow’s feet
While Dysport® is very similar to BOTOX® in both composition and effects, it’s diluted more. This means that you’ll need more units of Dysport® during treatment.
However, since units of Dysport® cost less than units of BOTOX®, the price often ends up being about the same as BOTOX®. Dysport® takes effect within about 1 week.
How do BOTOX® Cosmetic, DAXXIFY® and Dysport® work?
BOTOX®, Dysport® and DAXXIFY® both intercept the signals between your muscles and brain. When your brain tells a certain facial muscle to contract, the muscle doesn’t receive the message and therefore stays smooth. This means that the wrinkles that come from muscle contractions cannot form.
Do BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® and DAXXIFY® have downtime?
No, BOTOX®, Dysport® and DAXXIFY® don’t require downtime. The treatment takes only around five minutes, and you can return to your day immediately. The only restrictions are that you should avoid the following things for a few hours after treatment.
- Laying down
- Exercise
- Rubbing your face
How long do BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® and DAXXIFY® last?
On average, BOTOX®, Dysport® and DAXXIFY® last for around 3-4 months. The product leaves your body gradually. You can maintain your results long term by returning to Elite Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for treatments every three months.
